Tanzania!

Travelling and doing charity work abroad is always something I have wanted to do. It is definitely a "gap year" thing, however, because I was working, I didn't get the chance. Now, I have been given the opportunity and it's safe to say I grabbed it! One of the postgraduate students from my university is organising a month-long trip to Tanzania to help with local projects and better people's lives over there. Put it this way, by the time I am 21, I will have helped over 8,000 people!

I will be going in September 2014 and will be working on projects such as:
Building dormitories for children who have to walk miles to school
Improving irrigation systems
♥ Finding a way of preserving surplus fruit for the locals to sell for profit
♥ Teaching English to school children

If any of you lovely people fancy contributing a small amount of money to this cause it would mean a great deal to me, and the many communities we will be helping! I have set up a fundraising page to make things easier :)

Please give it a read and donate if you can! Thank you!

Until next time, live, laugh and love and enjoy all the little things in life

Song of the Week | Happy

To kick off my first series of 2014, I have for you, a song that will never fail to put me in a good mood!

My first Song of the Week is 'Happy' by Pharrell Williams

This song is from the lovable kids film 'Despicable Me 2', which I thought was a great film. I'm definitely still a child at heart!
I could easily listen to this song on repeat and this is the first song I go to if I'm not feeling my usual happy self. Pharrell Williams has a classic soul voice and this song makes you want to get up and dance and sing along to it. 'Happy' has summery vibes, lifting your spirits during this cold season.

Critics love it. I love it. You will love it :)

It's been a while!

First and foremost, I'd like to apologise for massively neglecting my blog since my arrival at uni. I knew it would be more difficult to keep posting due to my commitment to my degree, however, when I logged on the other day and realised it had been over 4 months(!) since I last posted, I decided it was time to step it up and re-commit to my blog.

So what has happened since my last post?

On the 21st September I travelled 2 hours North to Coventry University, where I have been studying Geography and Natural Hazards. I have some amazing blockmates, made some lovely friends, and have even bagged myself a gorgeous boyfriend! (pictures below). Having completed my first semester at uni, I can easily say that I love uni life. My course is really interesting, and the social side is a lot of fun. I am also a member of my uni's BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) Ladies 2nd tennis team! This means that I train on Mondays, have match practice on Sundays and have matches on Wednesdays so I get to play a lot of tennis! I have made loads of friends through tennis which means that Wednesday's sports social night is really good :)

Christmas and New Years can't be forgotten. I was home for 3 weeks at Christmas, leaving me lots of time to see friends, family and spend some non-uni time with my boyfriend, Matt. Although I had revision and coursework to do, I met up with my friends for dinner and for lunch which was lovely as I hadn't seen most of them since before going to uni. My family and I spent one evening with my Dad's side of the family, including my cousin who had just go engaged!! We are extremely excited for her and are massively looking forward to the wedding (naturally, as I am female!). Matt also came and visited me for a few days before Christmas which was so lovely, I got to show him my family and where I grew up :) It was also very strange having him in my house :P Christmas day and Boxing day were pleasant, I spent it surrounded by my family and got some wonderful presents!
For New Years, I drove up to Matt's and spent 4 days at his and met his family and friends. We went to a New Years Eve party which was a lot of fun, however, I may have got pretty drunk (oops!) and therefore, felt absolutely horrendous the following day. Sadly I haven't got any pictures from then.

Sadly, during my first semester, my fitness motivation massively dropped and my gym sessions were few and far between. I get free gym membership so it wasn't even the money stopping me going. I guess sometimes our motivation dims for a bit, especially as I'm in a new place with loads of new experiences! Not to worry though, for the two weeks since I have been back at uni, I have been to the gym a total of eight times and am scheduling gym time into my weekly routine around my lectures. It definitely helps to have someone to go with as then I am less likely to skip a session!

So what's happening from here?

One of my issues with blogging since being at uni is that I don't know what to blog about. I have had bloggers block(?!) So to counteract this, I will attempt to do 'series' much like I used to do my GlossyBox reviews. Currently my plan is 'Outfit of the week' and 'Song of the week'. I will do random updates of my life if anything interesting or noteworthy happens and some product reviews, although these will be rare as living on a student budget limits the amount I can spend on products.

I will leave you with a variety of pictures from these past 4 months. Apologies for the bad quality, most of them have been taken from my facebook!
