GlossyBox | February 2013

As February draws to a close, I have had plenty of time to try out the various products I have received in this month's GlossyBox.
As it is February, the focus for this month's box was valentines. The bow on the front of the box was pretty and I liked the heart shape on the leaflet. The leaflet was, again, very useful as it contained descriptions of all the products, the prices of the full sizes and some discounts! The freebie this month was a cute heart-shaped lolly - it's not featured in any of these pictures as I have already eaten it(!) and it was very yummy :)

Rituals Magic Touch body cream - This is a velvety body cream that 'nourishes the skin' and leaves it feeling 'silky soft to the touch'. It combines rice milk, antioxidants, cherry blossom fragrance and smooth texture. It smells of fresh-ness and summer and I love the way that the scent lingers on my skin, but isn't too overpowering. I have been impressed with this product as it moisturises my skin but doesn't leave it feeling sticky and horrible like other body creams do. This size is 70ml and would be £5, while the 200ml tube would be £15. I am seriously considering buying this once I have run out as I really think it is value for money!

MeMeMe Beat the Blues - I don't personally usually use skin illuminators and so as I have no previous experience with them, it took a while to master the technique to getting it just right. It claims to enhance your natural radiance which, I failed to notice. Maybe I'm just not using it right, but I didn't notice a difference in my skin's radiance at all so I was a little dissappointed. You simply dot along your brow and cheek bones to highlight and accentuate or mix with with foundation for a subtle all over shimmer. It has an odd dewy smell that isn't bad but it could be better. The full size is 12ml and is £5.50. I'm not sure that I would go out and buy it as it hasn't appeared to do anything.

Miners Lip Colour - I was pretty impressed when I saw this product in my box as it a proper sized product, not just a small tester one. Keeping with the valentines theme here, they say it is for irresistibly kissable lips and give the option of 12 different shades - the one I got was MI7001 Cinnamon. It smells fruity (not of cinnamon which I was sad about), however, it is only a faint scent so not too overpowering! It is really quite pigmented and it stays on for a long time. You can put on a little bit, which would be suitable for every-day situations, then add more for deeper lips. I really like this product as it works well with my skin tone and it is not a colour that I already have. The full size is 4g and is £3.99, so cheaper than a lot of lipsticks I already have!

Micabella eye shadow - I have quite a few eye shadows and I generally stick to the more browny-goldy-grey sort of colours, so I was quite pleased that they sent me this one. It is called 53 Dark Secrets and I really like it! It is made of 100% natural mica, which is a crystal-like mineral and, what's more, it is waterproof. You dip your brush lightly into the powder, tap off excess powder and apply to your eyelids. To make the colouring darker, either just add more, or you can dampen the applicator before dipping it in to the pot. It stays on well and is really easy to blend and to create the smokey eye effect. The full size is 2.5g and is £14.95, so quite a lot, however, it does last a long time as you hardly need any per use. Not sure I will be rushing to buy it, but I am glad I got to try it!

Figs and Rouge lip balm - It is fair to say, I have quite a few lip balms, all of which I am happy with. This particular product is pretty good too! It is excellent for soothing and naturally hydrating lips and skin, 'helping to maintain an easy, groomed look'. I didn't actually use it on my skin even though it says you can, I just stuck to putting it on my lips. I can't put my finger on what it smells of but it does smell nice and it does keep my lips moisturised and hydrated. The full size is 8ml costing £3.49, which is half decent. You can get cheaper lip balms, however, I would be happy paying that price for a good product.

So overall, I was pretty happy with this month's GlossyBox. The sizes of the products are good so I can properly try them out, and I wouldn't mind continuing using them. i don't really have anything negative to say about the box, and I just hope that GlossyBox continue with the high quality boxes in the future. If you haven't already, I advise you subscribe to GlossyBox as it gives you an opportunity to expand your beauty horizons and try out products you probably wouldn't otherwise try.

Do you get GlossyBox? What's your opinion?

Skiing Diary day 7/8

I will start off this post with a couple of apologies. First of all, sorry for the terrible layouts of the last few posts. I have been away skiing, and blogging from your iPad is really not easy! Because of this, I have sorted them out so you may see that the posts have changed since you last looked! Secondly, sorry it has taken so long for me to upload this post, since we got back, I have been super busy and have had hardly any time to just sit down and write! Oh well, better late than never, eh?

So Saturday was our last day on the slopes, so we were determined to make the most of it! We located the places we hadn't yet been, and set off as soon as possible. Though the sky was really nice and blue in the morning, it was freezing so I was glad that I had doubled up on layers! We skied to a nice little cafe, where the others had hot chocolate (I don't like hot drinks, so Lemonade it was for me) and we took some pictures. Keen to make the most of the day, we didn't stay for long. It wasn't long before we were hungry, so we stopped at a really nice restaurant by the Altiport, and had (yet again!) omelette! The sky had begun to darken, and the clouds gathered, and soon after lunch, we were skiing with flat light in a white-out! It was absolutely freezing! It got to the point where we could barely feel our hands, so we headed back to the chalet hotel for some well needed cake! We showered, packed and got ready quickly as we were keen to watch the England 6 Nations rugby match which, luckily, we won! We had a few drinks during the match and with dinner and were reluctant to go to bed, knowing that the next day, we had to leave. At 11ish though, we called it a night.

 My sister and our cousin

The Courchevel Altiport for all our private jets!

On Sunday morning, the alarm went off at 4:45am and we packed the rest of our things ready to go home. We had breakfast at 5:30, but none of us were really that hungry! The coach arrived a little late as it had been snowing so the roads were slippy. We got on the coach and our 3 hour transfer to the airport began (most of which, I slept through!). The plane journey was a lot quicker than that and I was watching more of Batman as I had done on the way. When we finally arrived back in England, we said goodbye to our cousins and drove home.

I can't believe that we are home already! The week felt more like a couple of days, and I really want to be back on the slopes again. I had such an amazing time and I can't wait to go again! I hope you have enjoyed my little diary-thing!

Skiing Diary day 5/6

So I am now past half way through my skiing trip, and so far I can say I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it! In general, the weather has been lovely, the slopes have been great, and, because we get up nice and early, there aren't to many people around to clog up the pistes.

My top and leggings are from New Look, my bracelet is from Chamilia, and the bow is just an old scarf.

Thursday was another early one, we were even the first ones on one of the gondolas! It was cloudy in the morning but it soon cleared, however, the temperature stayed very low - reaching a chilling -20C at lunch!! We skied quite far again and found some nice slopes (and some not so nice). At about 12, we decided to have an early, small lunch so I had good old cheese on toast :) We took it easy after that as we all had at least one minor injury, and made our way, slowly, to a restaurant to have pancakes. Unfortunately, we couldn't find anywhere that did pancakes, so we settled for brownies, which were nice but had too many nuts in them. We then made our way back to our chalet hotel for cake! The evening, as always, was chilled with card games and yummy dinner. Bed was then calling us at about 11 so we called it a night then.

Another early one yesterday, and we decided to stay in an area that we hadn't really visited much yet. Though there was blue skies, it was extremely cold and my fingers and toes were really not happy! The slopes were good and clear as not many people were on them, and we stopped for a hot chocolate (although not for me as I don't like hot chocolate!) and to have a nibble of our chocolate bars. We skied a bit more before finding somewhere for lunch, where we saw a stunt plane doing crazy things (stunts mostly, obviously!). We then met my brother who has decided to try snowboarding this week, and did a few more runs. We then made our way back go the chalet hotel for cake, showers and chill out time. We had dinner and played a few more card games, before calling it a night.

Skiing Diary day 3/4

Hey guys!
First of all, sorry for the terrible layout, I am doing this on my iPad and its really not easy!
So yesterday, we were up early and on the slopes by 9 again! We decided to try to get to the furthest to the right we could get to on the map, which we managed to do before lunch! Only two of our party were injured but nothing major so it was fine (neither of which were me!) I had a lovely ham omelette which I had been looking forward to as it is something I have every skiing holiday :) We took our time getting back as a lot of the pistes were challenging, icy and busy and didn't want to break anything! Before dinner, we went to see the piste party, which was good, and ended up at a bar for a drink! Dinner was again, lovely, and we played UNO and Irish snap afterwards, before going to bed and falling asleep very quickly!

Today was fun as there were just four of us going out together (me, my sister and our cousins) so we had to navigate our way around the slopes! We stared off the day with a couple of black runs and spent most of the day doing black and red runs to challenge ourselves! My cousins love doing jumps so we got quite a lot of footage of them doing various jumps and things. We skied back to the main area to meet everyone else for lunch which was really nice (but very pricey!). The afternoon was quite chilled as we spent it with my brother, who has only just started to learn to snowboard this week, so we took it easy on green runs! We got back to the chalet hotel in time for cake and a well earned rest! My dad then took myself and my sister out onto the slopes in the dark for a wander which was fun as they had music playing and flashing lights. It is the staff day off today so we are going out for dinner in a bit.
